Greetings, parents, and welcome to the 2016-17 school year!!!
I am so excited to be able to serve the students and parents in the Snellville/Loganville community for one more year. As many of you know, I am one of the charter members of Grace Snell Middle School, which opened in 2010. During the 2016-17 school year, I have the privilege of supporting our students and teachers as the Special Education, Connections (Testing), and the Science Assistant Principal.
In addition to being the Special Education Assistant Principal, I will also work closely with the Science and Connections Department. In Connections (Specials for our elementary parents), students will be exposed to non-academic courses such as PE, Health, Spanish, Band, Chorus, Orchestra, Junior Leadership Corps, Careers, Art, Technology, and Math Intervention. Our 7th and 8th grade students will have to complete SPGs (Student Performance Goals) to determine their growth during the semester. Our 8th grade Spanish students will have an End of Course Exam, paving the way for high school credit. Your student's teacher will provide more information about SPGs on their web pages, at curriculum night, and/or upon request. I am also looking forward to our Winter and Spring Concerts to highlight the awesome work by our Fine Arts Teachers. Our Junior Leadership Corps Program has become one of the best pre-Jr. ROTC programs in the district, and I can not wait to see them perform this year. As the Science AP, I will be responsible for students learning Earth Science (6th), Life Science (7th), and Physical Science (8th). Some of our 8th grade students will even take an Online 9-12 Biology course which could also pave the way for high school credits. Lastly, we are going to have an awesome year because we love our school and we are proud be a part of the South Gwinnett Cluster! If you need any assistance, please do not hesitate to call or stop by the school.
