6th Grade Language Arts

 

Course Overview:
The purpose of this course is to provide students with an integrated language arts learning experience including reading, listening, writing, and speaking skills. Through writing and reading workshops, we will explore a variety of literary genres and themes. Usage and mechanics, spelling, punctuation, and vocabulary will also be addressed through whole-class instruction and within the context of students’ own writings. Other areas of concentration will include cooperative learning, individualized conferences, portfolio development, and self-evaluation. Mastery of the Gwinnett County AKS will be a main focus in classroom instruction and learning.

Language of Literature and Language Network, published by McDougal Littell supplemented by dictionaries, thesauri, and novels
