8th Grade Physical Science Summer Activity Guide
Dear Parent or Guardian,
We would like to welcome you and your son or daughter to 8th grade physical science! We believe that science is an interesting and exciting topic. By getting involved in your child's instruction, you can not only help your son or daughter to succeed, but you may also enjoy learning new material yourself! And why not? The more we know about the world around us, the more fascinating it becomes!
Students in the 8th grade will be challenged to master many new concepts. The activities included in this packet are meant to serve as an introduction to several of the concepts that we will be studying during the upcoming school year. They are designed to give students science experiences that they can use to build their understanding of Physical Science. Most of them are short and simple and require only a few common household items to complete. By familiarizing themselves with these activities, your son or daughter will gain a solid base in science and will be well prepared for success in 8th grade science. The completion of all five 8th Grade Physical Science Summer Activities will count as one homework grade for all 8th Grade Physical Science students. Your child will also have many opportunities to reinforce, extend, and apply what he or she learns with fun and meaningful investigations and activities throughout the school year.
STUDENTS: Please take the time to read the instructions and complete the activities to the best of your abilities. Your work on these activities will be submitted to your 8th grade science teacher for grading at the beginning of the school year. And remember, have fun! The completion of all five 8th Grade Physical Science Summer Activities will count as one homework grade for all 8th Grade Physical Science students.
